Towards the Millenniumby Alan Hutley |
Despite all the publicity surrounding EMC it is amazing how many people are still unaware of their obligations and oblivious of the various New Approach Directives. Many have bayed for prosecutions in the hope it would bolster the demand for testing and products, Trading Standards came under fire for not being seen to enforce the law. There have now been a few prosecutions and no doubt there will be more but quite rightly, in our opinion, Trading Standards will only rely on prosecutions as a last result, they would much rather companies approach them at an early stage to resolve their problems from the outset.
So where does it go from here, new sophisticated products will appear, more designs will take account of EMC, software will increase and test equipment will become cheaper and easier to use, all this possibly resulting in fewer test houses. One thing is for certain. EMC is not going to disappear.
And what about the Journal. as others mainly for commercial reasons diverse into Europe and beyond, we will remain dedicated to the UK thus ensuring relevant information is not diluted. Naturally if there is very important information relating to exporters that will be reported too.
We will maintain our position as the number one UK EMC Journal and of course publishers of the established reference source, the EMC+LVD Yearbook, which includes a directory of over 200 companies, 250 distributors and a cross-referenced, easy product finder. (see inside back cover)
Remember all the article information and product snippets in the journal can be found on our Web Site making them available to a massive worldwide audience. All for free, why pay.
